How to Fish: the video game explained
A one-page overview for anyone searching what this PC game is, who made it and how many people can play.
How to Fish is a physics-based fishing game for one to four players on Steam, from developer Dazed Games, released August 20, 2026, and rated Overwhelmingly Positive across more than 70,000 reviews. A developer patch later added lobbies of up to eight. You crash on a small island and have to learn to fish your way home. Windows is the only native platform; consoles and Mac are planned with no date.
What the game is
The Steam description introduces it as a physics-based fishing simulator: after drinking and boating you crash into a small island, and to get back home you have to learn how to fish. Players describe a loop of casting, fighting creatures with weapons, selling or cooking the catch, buying gear, and completing quests that open the next island.
It is played solo or in online co-op. Steam lists single-player and online co-op, Steam Achievements, Family Sharing, in-game chat and online interactivity. The store's own list of what you do includes fishing, killing and selling fish, buying better gear, completing quests and fighting bosses to reach new islands, collecting rare variants of every fish, hitting trick shots and gambling.

Where to go depending on your question
- Thinking of buying: download and official source, price, PC requirements.
- Just started: map and radar, fish finder, leeches.
- Stuck on a boss: pufferfish, giant piranha.
- Finished the story: euros and the bow, drip creatures, achievements.
Is it still being updated?
The developer said in the 1.0.12 notes that it was probably the last bugfix patch before starting content updates, and The Islet Update followed on September 28. Patches 1.1.2 and 1.1.3 shipped the next day. We do not know of a published roadmap beyond that.
