How to get euros and the bow in How to Fish

The Islet Update added a new currency, a new weapon and a mini-boss without naming any of them in the patch notes. This page separates what the developer confirmed from what players found.

QUICK ANSWER

Players report two starting points for euros: a Money in a Bottle item worth 15 euro on a tiny palm-tree island, and the loot from the Manta mini-boss, started by throwing a special barrel into the sea at an oil-barrel islet. The bow is sold on a rock island with archery targets; a Russian-language guide gives its price as 25 euro, so two bottles would cover it. These reports date from versions 1.1.0–1.1.1, so prices may have changed.

What the developer confirmed

The 1.1.0 notes list a new weapon, multiple mini islands, more creatures, a new mini-boss, more items, a new bait, a new NPC and new achievements. They do not mention euros, prices or locations. Patch 1.1.2 later confirms there is a bow by adding two skins for it, adds reload rebinding, adjusts wishbone upgrade pricing, and notes a fix for the new mini-boss model.

Steam's achievement list adds three official facts: Bilingual ("Earn your first euro"), Money in a bottle ("Find money in a bottle") and Hobin Rood ("Kill a creature with an arrow"). So euros, a money-in-a-bottle item and an arrow weapon are confirmed to exist.

Step 1 · Find the mini islands

Mini islands are random. Guides say to sail through open water between the main islands and watch the radar for small yellowish marks, which show only when you are close. Patch 1.1.2 made those dots bigger. If the island you want is not there, travel to another main island and come back; two guides say the mini island changes when you do.

The full list of mini island types reported so far is on the map page.

Step 2 · Get euros

  • Money in a Bottle. Reported on a very small sand island with one palm tree. One guide says it is worth 15 euro and can be sold to any merchant or gambled like other items, and that picking it up unlocks the Money in a bottle achievement. Your first euro from any source unlocks Bilingual.
  • Manta loot. The mini-boss is reported to drop loot worth many euro; a Russian guide puts it at roughly 90–100. Guides say it can be cooked and sold as usual, and the guide credits cooking with a 1.5x boost to its value.
  • Roulette. The roulette table still shows dollars, but winning with a euro-valued item raises the euro value as normal, according to the 1.1.1 guide.

Step 3 · Buy the bow

The bow is reported on a round rock island surrounded by smaller rocks with archery targets. A robed character there hints at how to earn euros, and the island also sells arrow and quiver upgrades and has a drip-fish slot machine. One guide says every new purchasable item except the wishbone is here.

A Russian guide gives the bow's price as 25 euro. Killing any creature with an arrow unlocks Hobin Rood. A separate guide says the fully upgraded bow caps at 500 damage and a draw speed of 3 and suspects it may be the best damage-per-second weapon; that is one player's assessment, not a tested ranking.

Starting the Manta mini-boss

Three independent guides agree on the trigger. Find the islet with two rock islands joined by a bridge, oil barrels and a warning sign. One barrel is a different shade and separate from the rest. Pick it up and throw it into the sea to spawn the Manta.

We have no verified fight tactics. The developer fixed a model issue on the mini-boss in 1.1.2, which suggests the fight has been adjusted since launch. Treat any specific health or attack numbers you see elsewhere as unconfirmed.

Common questions

Do I need to finish the story first?

The 1.1.0 notes do not say so. Players who report these routes describe having completed the main game, but we cannot confirm it is required.

Where does the wishbone fit in?

It is bought with euros on a separate parkour island and raises your drip-creature chance. See Drip creatures, Fishipedia & wishbone.

Which achievements relate to euros?

Three: Bilingual (earn your first euro), Money in a bottle and Hobin Rood (kill a creature with an arrow). See the achievements page.

What we have not checked

Not verified by us in game

The three achievements are official, but we have not bought the bow or fought the Manta ourselves. Prices, the 15-euro bottle, loot values and the bow's stats come from player guides written on 1.1.0–1.1.1, and patches 1.1.2 and 1.1.3 may have changed them. If your numbers differ, send a correction with your game version.
