How to Fish map: islands, radar & mini islands
Players describe navigating with a handheld radar rather than a map screen, and the Islet Update added small random islands on top of that. Here is what the developer and players have documented.
Islands open in a chain: beat the island's boss, hand the drop in to the quest character, and the radar shows the next location. The radar is picked up at the start and, according to players, sold on later islands if you lose it. Since 1.1.0, small mini islands appear at random between the main islands; they show on the radar as small marks when you are in range.
What the radar does
A player in a Steam thread says the radar is next to the fisherman at the beginning: you hold it to see where the next location is, but you must finish the first location first. That matches the developer's own radar notes: patch 1.0.10 removed the old X marker for your last death because it was confusing, and patch 1.1.2 made the mini island dots on the radar bigger.

Players describe a repeatable chain: boss drop, then hand-in to the island's quest character, then new radar coordinates. Because of that you cannot jump ahead: patch 1.0.5 fixed a bug that let players travel to any island without unlocking it, and patch 1.0.4 made the intended path up to the final island easier to see.
Developer: Developer announcements — patches 1.0.4–1.1.3 ↗| Stage as players number it | Reported role | Evidence |
|---|---|---|
| Island 1 — start | Radar next to the fisherman; a sailor who takes a beer (the Empty Beer bait) | Steam discussion + guide |
| Island 2 — forest | Leech bait, quest character, giant piranha. Killing it and handing in the drop opens the next location | Steam discussions + guide |
| Island 3 — desert | Endangered fish quest, carrot bait, pufferfish, Standard Lure | Steam discussions + guide |
| Island 4 | Professional Lure and later gear | Guide |
| Island 5 — volcano | Scientific Lure and a scientist; the final boss is reported here | Steam discussion + guide |
Some Steam threads call the pufferfish island "island 3" and others place it fourth in the order. The developer's patch 1.0.11 even refers to an "island 6" with a roulette table, and one Steam guide title claims a secret sixth island. We have not verified a sixth island, so we give no route to it. Follow the radar and the quest character, not the number.
Mini islands from the Islet Update
Patch 1.1.0 added "multiple mini islands" and adjusted the distance between islands. The notes give no names or locations. Community guides add that they spawn at random as you sail between main islands and that the layout can change if you go back and forth. A guide written on version 1.1.1 says they show on the radar as small yellowish marks only when you are a little beyond the radar's edge, so keep sailing in empty water rather than looking for a fixed point.
| Mini island as players describe it | What is reported there | Guide |
|---|---|---|
| Tiny sand island with one palm tree | A Money in a Bottle item worth 15 euro; a coconut easter egg is also mentioned | Euros and the bow |
| Two rock islets joined by a bridge, with oil barrels | One darker barrel starts the Manta mini-boss when thrown in the sea | Euros and the bow |
| Round rock island with archery targets and a small circular wall | Bow, arrow and quiver upgrades, a robed trader and a drip slot machine | Euros and the bow |
| Pillars of rock you can jump between | Wishbone at the top, bought with euros | Drip creatures & wishbone |
| Three small sand platforms | Crab Carcass bait, up to three per visit (1.1.2 raised its spawn from 2 to 3) | Fish finder |
If you lose your radar
Several threads cover the same problem. Players agree a replacement radar is on sale on later islands, and one says the island-2 shop sells it at the bottom of the stand where it is easy to miss. Another thread says reloading the save puts you back on the nearest island, while a different poster reports that when the nearest island had no radar they felt soft-locked and had to restart. Those reports conflict, so do not assume a reload always fixes it.
- Back up your save folder before experimenting (see the Steam Cloud and save guide).
- Sail in one direction for a long time; one reply says you will eventually reach an island.
- On any island, look closely at the shop stand and signposts for a radar before buying other upgrades.
- If you reload, check the version at the bottom of the main menu and note which island you land on before reporting it.
No new coordinates after a boss
A thread about the giant piranha says the radar circle never appeared even though the boss was dead. The reply says a dead boss is not enough: you must pick up what it drops and finish the hand-in conversation. We did not find agreement on what the drop is called (one thread says skeleton), so look for any item the boss leaves behind and carry it to the quest character. The same chain applies to the other island bosses.

How we want to verify this page
We have not sailed these routes ourselves. Island order, the number of mini island types and the lost-radar fixes come from developer notes plus Steam threads and Steam guides. If you can document a different order or an extra island with your game version and a screenshot, send us a correction.
