How to Fish Steam Cloud: move your existing save

The developer's Steam Cloud upload instruction, with a safe checklist for moving between computers.

QUICK ANSWER

On the PC that holds the save you want, play How to Fish and exit once. The developer gives this instruction to upload existing progress after Steam Cloud was added in patch 1.0.12.

1. Start on the computer with your progress

Open the wanted save on its original PC and exit the game normally. This is the developer's migration instruction; simply installing the game on a second computer does not perform that original-PC step.

2. Let Steam finish synchronizing

Check Steam's cloud status before moving to the other device. If Steam reports a synchronization error, resolve it before continuing with another session. See Steam's Cloud documentation for client troubleshooting.

3. Check the destination save

On the second computer, confirm that the expected progress is present before continuing. If it is not, stop and revisit the original PC's upload status. This check is our precautionary advice, not a promise that every conflict can be recovered.

If Steam shows a conflict

Compare the available timestamps and the machine that has your intended progress. Do not choose a copy at random. Consult Steam's documentation and preserve a backup before replacing local data.
