Up to 8-player lobbies were added in patch 1.0.4. The store description still introduces the game as a 1–4 player experience.
Why do some sites say four players?
The original store description uses 1–4 players. The later developer patch notes explicitly added support for up to eight. We give the newer patch note priority for lobby capacity.
Can you play alone?
Yes. Single-player and online co-op are both listed on Steam.
Can I keep a lobby private?
Patch 1.0.5 added invite-only private lobbies. Use a private lobby when you want to play with your own group.
Is console crossplay available?
The checked sources do not list native console releases or console crossplay. Do not confuse online PC co-op with cross-platform support.
